A nut, a slut, a grifter, and an appeal to their constituents.

"Everything is changing. People are taking their comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke."

In 2019, back when she was first entering politics, Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her intention to run in Georgia's 7th congressional district. There was just one problem: she began her campaign in the 6th district, where she resided. Later that year, she announced that she was shifting her campaign to the 14th district. Members of the House of Representatives are constitutionally required to live in the state they represent, but not necessarily in the same congressional district. Though Greene lived in Milton, Georgia, which is in the 6th district, there were no legal barriers to prevent her from running for a seat in the 14th district.

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert of Colorado pulled a similar stunt when it became obvious that she would lose her seat representing Colorado's 3rd congressional district. Recent financial disclosures indicate Boebert claims zero assets – not even a home – making her the poorest member of Congress (assuming she didn’t lie on the reports). Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas resides in Florida. He claims a hunting lodge as his residence in the Sunflower State, thus providing himself with a loophole.

Greene, Boebert, and Marshall are among the most vocal Trump sycophants and right-wing showmen in the United States Congress. They crave the spotlight the way a bee craves pollen. Without it, their political careers would be virtually non-existent.

For her part, Greene promotes antisemitic and white supremacist views. She alleges government involvement in mass shootings and has suggested the attacks of 9/11 were a hoax. Greene has supported calls to execute prominent Democrat politicians. She compared COVID-19 safety measures to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust – and who could forget that she blamed California wildfires on “Jewish space lasers?”

In 2020, Boebert reimbursed herself $22,259 for mileage costs from her campaign's finances, which would have legally required her to have driven 38,712 miles. In 2023, she and her date were escorted out of a musical performance in Denver because of sexually lewd and disruptive behavior. Prior to that incident, Boebert and the rapper 50 cent were allegedly involved in a sexual relationship. After the Denver episode, the rapper took to social media and crudely posted, “Hey I don’t have chlamydia by the way. LOL.” Boebert was likewise allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with artist Kid Rock in 2025. The liaison led to the musician’s fiancé of seven years leaving him.

After the tragic American Airlines plane crash into the Potomac River, Marshall blamed a lack of "white men" working in airport control towers. A few weeks later, he accompanied President Trump aboard Air Force One to the Super Bowl. He made national headlines after abruptly walking out of a public Town Hall in Oakley, Kansas when the audience pushed back on him. Then, on the evening of March 19th, he hosted an “invitation only” Town Hall in Larned, Kansas. Last year, his chief of staff was the subject of an ethics investigation. Lately, he's been telling "his farmers" to tighten their belts if they're "patriots."

Every elected official -- from a local school board to Congress -- reflects the voters they represent. The constituents have the power to extinguish these dumpster fires at any point. Failure to do so makes them complicit in chaos.

People like Greene, Boebert, and Marshall are poster child examples of why term limits should be implemented. Likewise, they’re living proof that partisan voter loyalty is a tired schtick. Most elected officials aren't loyal to their constituents; this is why many of them are content with hopping from district to district to remain in office. This begs the question: Why in the hell should voters be loyal to them based solely on partisan affiliation?

Voters won’t change a narcissistic showman. A zebra cannot shed its stripes, and a snake only sheds its skin to become a bigger snake. Calling your elected representatives doesn’t amount to anything. Unless you've got an impressive title that scares them, or a large donation that entices them, they won't listen. Likewise, protesting is all well and good, but responsible voting would reduce the need for protests exponentially.

THE BEST WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS IS AT THE BALLOT BOX.

We need constituents to start holding their elected officials accountable. That begins by not taking them at their word but instead evaluating their actions and their votes. It continues when the time comes for a constituent to cast their vote. We're in this present mess because too many people are lazy when it comes to the democratic process.
